Day 24

Phew.
Christmas break is almost here.
I am putting the finishing touches on my research paper for my Faulkner class.
I love the two classes I am teaching for my Student Internship.
I got my scores back from my Praxis 2 and I passed both tests. I am glad.
I am ready to graduate. May is not really that far away.
I am ready to have my own classroom and do things my way.
I love my mentor and students,
but there is just something about knowing that I have a classroom of my own students.
I am ready.

Day 23

Wow. Time has flown by so much. I am a Senior at Lyon College. I am student teaching at Cave City Middle School. I am teaching two classes of 8th grade Language Arts. I absolutely love it. I am taking two classes at Lyon: Faulkner and Trig; and one class at UACCB: Math for Teachers. I am so ready to have my own classroom, but I love my mentor teacher. I am staying busy. I am trying to work when I get a chance, but those hours are getting fewer and fewer. Hope everyone is doing great.

Day 22

This semester has been tough.
My professors are not near as helpful as they could have been
and that bothers me.
I am taking three classes this summer.
Children's Literature during May Intercession.
Visual Art and Philosophy in June/July.
I am hopefully going to be working part time at the Charlotte Preschool and part time at Charlie's Men's Wear.
My grades this semester are worrysome.
I need a 2.75 to keep my teacher grant and my Academic Challenge.
If things stay decent, I will have a 2.70.
If they get bad, it could be worst.
This could cost me about $10,000 next year and I am worried.
I feel like I have put effort into school this year and it is not showing through.
That bothers me.
I am ready for the weekend.
Joey, Dad and I are going to a cattle sorting at the Shefiffs Ranch on Saturday
(after work).
It should be fun.

Day 21

Hey.

It, again, has been a while since I have written. Life keeps me busy.

I just got my midterm grades. They are better this semester. 7 classes. 3 A's, 1 B, and 3 C's.

As of right now, I have a 2.9 for this semester. I had a 2.3 last semester. I have approximately a 2.55 overall G.P.A. for this year. My cumulative for the three years is better than that but one of my scholarships depends on my yearly G.P.A. I know they are not the greatest graded, but I worked hard for them. Lyon College is very different from UACCB. The teachers are completely different and they expect different things. It was difficult to become accustomed to the new ways of doing things.

I am on Spring Break this week. I am so glad. I subbed yesterday and am subbing today. I am signed up for a 1/2 day tomorrow and a full day on Friday. I want to work as much as possible since I will be off work for a week from the Ranch when those kids go on Spring Break.

School is interesting. I am taking Modern Poetry. I really am enjoying it. I am taking British Literature 2 and American Literature 1. They are more tedious. I do not feel like I am understanding as much.

Aunt Margie passed away a couple weeks ago. When she died, I began to worry about how the boys were going to get to Wednesday night youth group. I felt like God was telling me that I needed to start doing that after one of the boys asked to go with me and I had to deny. I started last week and I am so thankful that I am able to follow in Aunt Margie's foot steps. I know she would be proud.

I continually need prayer for God's guidance in life. I am so thankful that I can life for Him.

Day 20

Whew. We finally have electricity. It went out on Tuesday at 5:15 and just came back on today, Friday, sometime this morning.

Joey and I spent the week at Aunt Kathy's. She has a gas hot water heater, a gas stove, and a gas burner in the dining room. We stayed warm, clean and fed. We actually had a good week. Joey's classes let out for the week, but I only got one day off. I had to skip the second day because of the ice.

I am trying to catch up on laundry and e-mails. I have to say I missed the washer and dryer much more than the computer. I kind of liked being cut off.

I need to do some homework but I am not going to worry about that until Monday.

I am ready to get to the summer. As much as I love the winter weather, I am beginning to see why people like summer so much.

Hope you are having a great week.

Later.

Day 19

WOW!

I feel terrible. I haven't blogged in over a month. It has been a busy month, though.

School is back in session. Yay.

I started classes last week and Practicum this week. I am still at Cave City Middle School with Mrs. Sandy and I am loving it. The kids are still so great. I should get to do more in the classroom this semester. I will get to work with the kids, grade papers and teach at least one lesson.

I was going to post a picture on here, but our computer is too slow.

I bought three calves. One bull calf and two heifers. They are all crossbred with some Shorthorn in there somewhere. I am about ready to cut the bull calf and get him ready to sale him so I can buy another heifer. I want three to five heifers ready to breed in Fall 2009.

School should be better this semester since all of my classes are spread out somewhat. I am not taking four classes on one day. That is for sure. I have three classes on TR, two classes on MW, one on F and one online. That is spread out enough that I won't go crazy except for trying to remember where to be, when.

Hope you had a great break.

Later.
